Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Htay Oo inspected harvesting of summer paddy plantations, green gram and mixed-crop sunflower plantations in Danu Pyu, Zalun and Hinthada townships of Ayeyawaddy Division on the 15th of March. Along the Ayeyawady river bank near Pyi Lone Kat Kyaw Su Taung Pyaye Pagoda in Hinthada, he inspected renovation of embankment with the use of Geo- Tube, being undertaken by Irrigation Department, at Hinthada side between mile post No.8/3 and 8/4. After that, Officials reported on extension of embankment with the use of Geo Tube, and its durability. The Minister and party viewed round the completed construction of the earth works and the tasks being undertaken for the embankment. The Minister later left necessary instructions. |

Minister for Forestry Brig-Gen Thien Aung arrived at Ingapo Timber Jetty in KyaikHto Township on 13th March and inspected systematic piling of timber logs. He also inspected thriving teak plantation, production process of No.81 Saw Mill and systematic storage of sawn timbers as well as tree plantation of Kyainn Village in Mawlamyaing. The Minister also met staff of the Forest Department from Malamyaing and Pa-An and gave instructions on successful implementation of targeted tasks of the department. On the 14th, the Minister inspected WhayShan Timber jetty, Euclyptus plantation of ZayatPhyuKone Village in Myawady Township and gave instructions. He also met the staff and urged them to implement the duty successfully. On the 15th, the Minister inspected production process of No.90 Saw Mill in Bago Township and left instructions. |

Deputy Minister for Construction U Tint Swe and officials on 12th March met with the engineer-in charge who is undertaking the renovation of Pyimana- TaungtwinGyi road then he instructed the needs. Then, they inspected construction of Ayeyawaddy Bridge (MaLun) and fulfilled the needs. The rail-cum bridge will link MiChaungYe' in Magwe District on the eastern bank of Ayeyawady River MaLun of in ThaYet district on the west bank. |

Up to 6 March 2010 during the poppy cultivation season in 2009 - 2010, altogether 13,742.39 acres of poppy fields were destroyed in States and Divisions. From 7 to 12 March, a total of 344.13 more acres of poppy plantations were destroyed in States and Divisions. So, total acres of destroyed poppy plantation amounted to 14,086.52 acres. Among them, 77.5 acres of poppy were destroyed in Mangtung, Kutkai and Namhkam townships in Northern Shan State, 70.46 acres in Pekhon and Nyaungshwe townships of Southern Shan State, 109.05 acres in Monghsat, Metmung, Mongkhat, Kengtung, Mongyawng, Mongton, Mongphyat and Tachilek townships in Eastern Shan State and 87.12 acres in Phakant, Waingmaw, Chipwe and Mohnyin townships in Kachin State. |
