Magway is located in the middle part o Myanmar. Its population is over 5 million.

A total of 49 dams and 52 river water pumping projects have been built, the number of agricultural land has reached over 2.7 million in the region.

Mone Creek Dam which was inaugurated on 29 December last year produces 75 mega watts. Four dams which are now under construction will irrigate over 22,000 acres of agricultural land.

The number of farm animals has increased from 7.2 million to nearly10.6 million and over 475 fingerlings are bred in Ayeyawady River.

In the Forestry sector, 2,400 acres of teak and 500 acres of Thitseint have been cultivated. As the dry region greening project meets with success, there is improvement in the weather of the region.

In Magway , over 1,742 –mile – long road including over 985 –mile – long tar road has been constructed. There are 12 above 180 – foot – long bridges in Magway .

In communication sector, post offices, telegraph offices, facsimile and computer telegraph stations have been extended.

In industrial sector, Yenangyoung Industrial Zone and Pokoku Industrial Zone have been set up. The number of private factories has increased from 1,183 to 2,115.
