KAYAN SLUICE GATE
Kayan sluice gate constructed by Construction (6) of the Irrigation Department of the Ministry for Agriculture and Irrigation situated near old Chaungwa village in Thanhlyin township, Yangon South District.

The project is for water supply and prevention of entering sea water benefit not only low lying areas such as Pyuntaza plain and Bago plain in Bago but also adjacent regions in Yangon and canals, and the construction of embankments along the water ways effectively prevents flooding against Pyuntaza and Bago plains from being flooded.

The Kayan sluice gate will prevent inundation in Kayan, Thongwa and Thalyin townships in Yangon during the rainy season. It will also provide water for irrigation and other purposes. Built on Kayan creek, near old Chaungwa village, Thalyin township, Yangon South district, it has 406-foot by 16-foot valves and is connected with a 4,000-foot feeder canal and 2,500-foot outlet canal.
