The 48 members of Mawlamyinegyun Township National League for Democracy including U Win Khe, U Thein Aung, U Kyaw Tint, U Myint Kyi, Daw Than Hla-2, Ma Cherry, U Myint Moe, U Aung Thein, U Aung Myint and Ma Kay Thi in Ayeyawady Region resigned from the NLD party of their own accord on 15 July. They had sent their resignation letters to NLD headquarters and local authorities concerned.

In their letters, they said NLD party has committed acts that are detrimental to the State and the people and they no longer put their trust in the party’s leaders. A total of 152 party members including the 48 members have resigned from NLD party so far.
