In its bid to establish a durable democratic system, the government is holding the National Convention for the emergence of a constitution that will protect the interests of the entire national people. If we look at the steps that have been taken at the National Convention, we can find that detailed basic principles have been laid down regarding the legislative functions of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, the Pyithu Hluttaw, the Amyotha Hluttaw and the Region or State Hluttaw in the Chapter “Legislation”. In addition, the National Convention has also laid down the detailed basic principles on the citizens and their rights and responsibilities and the Tatmadaw. Now the eight delegate groups have put forward to the Work Committee proposals for chapters on elections, political parties and state of emergency provisions. In the same way, when the delegate groups have compiled proposals for chapters on amendment of the constitution, the national flag, the state seal, the national anthem, the capital, transitory provisions and general provisions, they will be submitted to the National Convention plenary sessions. |

Due to the concerted efforts of the National Convention Convening Commission, the Work Committee and the Management Committee and the enthusiastic and conscientious participation of the delegates, great strides are being made and the future state is beginning to take shape. If all the delegates to the National Convention make continuous efforts while keeping the favourable conditions and the achievements already gained, we believe that the National Convention will realize the set goals. |
