With the assistance of Japanese government, UNICEF handed over posters and pamphlets on bird flu and anti-bird flu equipment to the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department at the meeting hall of the department on 23rd February. LBVD Deputy Director-General Dr Than Daing and Chief of Programme Communication & Information of UNICEF Ms Susan Aitkin made speeches.

Also present on the occasion were officials of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, Livestock, Feedstuff and Dairy Products Enterprise, Myanmar Livestock Breeding Federation and Yangon City Development Committee.

The aim of distributing the posters, pamphlets and anti-bird flu equipment is to raise the public awareness on avian flu and promote preventive measures. The posters, pamphlets and anti-bird flu equipment will be distributed to farms, offices, hospitals, schools and markets in various townships through LBVD and the Health Department.
