FAO and Myanmar signed an agreement on immediate technical assistance to strengthen emergency preparedness for highly pathogenic avian influenza at the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department in Insein Township here this morning.

Present on the occasion were FAO Resident Representative Dr Tang Zhengping, Director General of LBVD U Maung Maung Nyunt and departmental officials. The agreement includes US$ 600,000 worth equipment to be used in preventive measures against bird flu donated by USAID.
