OIE announces Myanmar free from bird flu

Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries informed the World Animal Health Organization (OIE) that avian influenza occurred in central Myanmar was brought under control. The report was sent to OIE on 4 September and the announcement was carried in the dailies in Myanmar on 6 September.

The disease was brought under control four months ago and the detection of bird flu found no virus. Based on the results of active surveillance, Myanmar has regained its freedom from highly pathogenic avian influenza. The report was announced on the OIE website.
