Eight members of Hinthada Township National League for Democracy of Ayeyawady Region — U Kalar, U Maung Win, U Sein Htay, U Aung Myint, U Soe Myint and U Tun Win of Thanbayataing Village-tract, and U Shwe Lwin and U Shwe Moe of Zayatkwin Village-tract — left the party of their own accord on 15 August by sending letters of resignation to the NLD (HQ) and local administrative bodies concerned.

In their letters they sent to Hinthada Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-Commission, they said that instead of carrying out party politics merely, the NLD stuck to confrontation policy that would bring miseries and troubles to the nation and the people. So, they had lost their faith and trust in NLD and party leaders, and in the end they decide to quit the party of their own volition, they added.
