The State Peace and Development Council is trying to build a developed and democratic state based on its historical and cultural background. And it is implementing the seven-point Road Map for the nation’s future and its long-term interests. The National Convention, the very first and most important step of the programme, is now well under way. |

The National Convention, the first phase of the seven step Road Map, has already been reconvened for three times. And it will resume on 10 October 2006 at Nyaunghnapin Camp, Hmawby Township. |

At the upcoming National Convention the reports of the Panel of Alternate Chairmen on the proposals of the respective delegate groups and some delegates to the National Convention held from 5 December 2005 to 31 January 2006 will be presented. Moreover, there will be other matters on laying down the detailed basic principles for the legislation of the respective Hluttaws, the citizenship, the basic rights and responsibilities of citizens and the role of the Tatmadaw discussed at the previous sessions of National Convention. Delegates from all walks of life are holding discussions in unison for the emergence of the constitution, which will be the lifeblood of the nation and the people. The delegates are making cooperative efforts for its success with patriotic spirit and Union Spirit and without any kind of narrow-minded racism, regionalism and ideological differences. |
