The National Convention shaping the future of the nation

For the emergence of a constitution that can guarantee the perpetuation of the Union and safeguard the long-term interests of the entire national peoples, the National Convention is being held in accordance with the seven-step Road Map. It was adjourned during the cultivation season and resumed on 10 October at the Nyaunghnapin Camp in Hmawby Township, Yangon Division.

Basic principles discussed at the previous session regarding the communications between various Hluttaws, the citizens, rights and responsibilities of the citizens and the role of the Tatmadaw will be reviewed and approved at the present session. Then, detailed basic principles will be laid down. And the Work Committee will explain its findings about the remaining chapters to the delegates for discussions.

Due to the concerted efforts of the National Convention Convening Commission, the Work Committee and the Management Committee and the conscientious cooperation of the delegates, the National Convention is making much headway and the future of the State is now in sight. However, destructive elements who are against all the constructive measures taken by the government are plotting through various ways and means to wreck and ruin the good foundations of the nation and spell suffering for the people.

If the delegates to the National Convention work relentlessly with national awareness and vigilance and the entire national people fully cooperate, the constitution for a genuine and discipline-flourishing democracy will soon be born out of the National Convention whatever hindrance and obstacles are encountered.
