Member U Thaung Myint of NLD Party of Madaya Township in Mandalay Region resigned from NLD of his own accord on 16 January. His resignation letter was sent to the NLD Headquarters and authorities concerned.

In his resignation letter sent to Madaya Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Sub-Commission, he said that he had no trust in the party any more because it had not served the interest of the State and the people.
