A total of 34 members including members U Thein Win, U Thein, U Win and U Than Hsaung of Sagaing Township National League for Democracy of Sagaing Division resigned from the party of their own volition on 31 August, sending letters of resignation to the NLD Headquarters and local authorities.

In their letters sent to Sagaing Division Multiparty Democracy General Election Subcommissions, they said that they had lost trust in the NLD and interest in activities of the party. That is why they resigned from the party of their own accord, they said.
