Five members of Sagaing Township National League for Democracy in Sagaing Division—U Nyo, U Tha Htay, U Ar Lu, U Hla Myint and U Kyaw Myint of Kywebon Village— on 17 October sent their resignation letters of their own accord to the NLD (Headquarters) and local administrative bodies.

In the letter they sent to Sagaing Division Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub- commission, they said that they were no longer interested in the functions of the NLD, and so they resigned from the party of their own volition.
