A member of the Madaya Township National League for Democracy of Mandalay Region, U Maung Maung Aye, resigned from the party of his own volition on 4 June, sending letter of resignation to the NLD Headquarters and local authorities concerned.

In his letter of resignation sent to the Madaya Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Subcommission, he said that he resigned from the NLD party as he was dissatisfied with the party's activities and no longer trusted in the party and its leaders.
