Sixty members including U Sai Mont, U Aik Naw, U Aik Yi, U Sai Nwe, U Sai Pyan, U Sai Tip, U Sai Maing, U Sai Lon, Daw Kyi Kyi Win and Daw Nan San Phu of Kengtung Township National League for Democracy in Shan State (East) resigned from the party of their own volition, sending their letters of resignation to NLD Headquarters and respective authorities concerned on 3 September.

In their letters sent to Kengtung Township National League for Democracy and Kengtung Township Multiparty Democracy Election Subcommission, they said the NLD in collaboration with internal and external destructive elements is undermining State stability though various means. Ignoring the government’s nation- building tasks, the NLD is also making the nation and its people to be held in servitude. That was why they resigned from the party of their own accord.
