Myanmars are strongly imbued with nationalistic spirit, and that fine tradition has gone down in the annals of Myanmar history. Thanks to the research carried out by some researchers, Myanmar can be proud of the fact that Myanmar originated in Pontaung Ponnya. National and foreign experts confirmed that the anthropoid primates excavated in Pontaung Ponnya in Myanmar date back to about 40 million years.

Myanmar is a Union nation where more than 100 national races have been living in cohesion through thick and thin. Forging national unity, patriotic spirit, Union Spirit and nationalistic fervour, Myanmar managed to drive out the colonialists and fascists and regain independence. These independence struggles also went down in history.

Myanmar is rich in natural resources. Myanmar’s lush and green forests, precious stones and natural gas along with bountiful harvests of crops and grains belong to the people.
In addition, Myanmar is a nation that hardly faces natural disasters such as strong earthquakes, strong winds, volcano eruptions, tsunami, landslides and floods. It enjoys adequate clean water from monsoon rain, and irrigation water from large rivers such as the Ayeyawady, the Chindwin, the Sittoung and the Thanlwin, small rivers, tributaries, creeks, natural lakes, artificial lakes, and irrigation facilities built by the government.

Myanmar fell under alien subjugation for more than 100 years, and in the colonial period, its natural resources were exploited and unfairly taken outside the country by the covetous colonialists. So, Myanmar people had to live below the poverty line despite having abundant natural resources. The post-independence period was an opportune time for the people to develop the mother country by using fertile soil, exploiting the natural resources and working hard together. Nevertheless, the people had to live in a state of panic due to armed insurgency resulting from internal and external instigation, doubts, and sectarianism. Therefore, Myanmar people do not accept any situations in which independence may be lost again, or the possible collapse of the Union, and are desirous of enjoying peace and stability, and development.

Now, the people enjoy the taste of national development peace, stability and independence. In order to achieve these fruitful results, the government and national people had to make earnest efforts in concert. The whole Union was on the path towards development, following the return of seventeen armed groups to the legal fold. Their return and contribution are helping accelerate the development tasks.

The strength of the youth of national races play an important role in the drive for restoring peace and stability and achieving development. By nature, the youth are active, alert and strong with the spirit of making self-sacrifices in others’ interests. The youths with patriotic spirit can help create a prosperous future of the nation and the people.
National youths shouldering nation-building tasks are brave and strong like a lion, and alert and swift like an eagle. They model themselves after national heroes who were armed strongly with nationalistic fervour and managed to expel the colonialists out of the nation and helped the motherland regain independence.
National youths took part in the anti-colonialist struggles, anti-fascist movement and national liberation struggles. Furthermore, the present-day youths are now working brilliantly in the drive for defending the Union, safeguarding sovereignty, and all-round development of the nation.

The youth are now exerting their active participation, brilliant performances, correct efforts, strong nationalistic spirit, and firm concept in implementing the State’s seven-step Road Map and tasks for progress of the whole nation, preserving and promoting traditional culture, crushing internal and external destructive elements who are disrupting national interests, and improving the living conditions of the people.
The youth include young farmers, young workers, young intellectuals and intelligentsia, young service personnel, young servicemen, young policemen and policewomen, young fire brigade members, young Red Cross members, young national race people, and students.
In their bid to serve the interests of the nation and the people through their youth, courage, dynamism, and alertness, the youth have learned from the experiences of their ancestors. Moreover, they have to broaden their horizons by reading and studying. Then, they have got correct concept, awareness, bravery and physical prowess.

Now, reliable youth have formed themselves as a strong force, inheriting fine traditions of fellow youth in the past. As millions of youths are consolidated in harmony, the flags of the Union Solidarity and Development Association fly the length and breadth of the nation. More than 20 million patriotic youths of national races have joined the Association to shoulder national duties energetically.
