A strong and capable national force of a nation can serve as an engine for development of the nation.

Myanmar formed such a national force on 15 September 1993 under the name of the Union Solidarity and Development Association. It is now 14 years old.

The nation places reliance on younger generation’s brilliant performances and values their attentiveness. So, the government has mobilized the youths who wish to serve the interests of the nation into the Union Solidarity and Development Association.

The Association consists of those who cherish the nation and the people, who desire to build national unity, who favour prevalence of law and order and community peace, and who wish to preserve and safeguard national culture. Members of the Association expedite nation-building tasks in cooperation with the people.

Members of the Association are trained and nurtured constantly to become skilled ones. As a result, young members become capable of putting energetic efforts into the tasks for development of the region concerned.

Members will have to play an important role in the drive for building a new nation. So, the Association is systematically conducting various kinds of courses such as courses on Myanmar Affairs and International Studies (central level), special refresher courses, efficiency courses, management courses for executives, international relations courses, computer diploma courses, courses of diploma in accountancy, and accountant courses to sharpen the abilities of the members.

Now, USDA members are joining hands with the entire people in the projects the government is implementing to narrow the development gap between urban and rural areas such as the border areas and national races development project, the State’s seven-step Road Map and other nation building tasks.

They are also making efforts region-wise with might and main to implement the five rural development tasks hand in hand with local people, thereby speeding up regional development tasks.
Young members are doing their bit in the tasks for improving the rural transport sector, supply of sufficient clean water and irrigation water, promoting the education standard, improving the rural health care sector, and rural agriculture and livestock breeding sector, and improving economic growth.

Consequently, the regions are enjoying the fruitful results of hard work.

Young members also made remarkable contribution towards the successful completion of the National Convention. And they are contributing their services together with the entire people for emergence of a new constitution.

In addition, young members will continue to make efforts in cooperation with the people to accomplish the State’s seven-step Road Map.

The Union Solidarity and Development Association is established with sons and daughters of national people to serve the interests of the State and the people. Thus, young members have to make sustained efforts to enable the Association to remain as a reliable national force, while dedicating themselves to the nation-building tasks and national political processes the government is implementing for national development.
