Thirteen members resigned from the National League for Democracy Party of their own accord on 2 August. Altogether 13 members including U Khin Maung Win, U Khin Myint Soe, U Myint Htay, U Aung Kyaw Don, U Ah Shwin and U Moe Kyaw of Hinthada Township NLD sent their resignation letter to the NLD (Headquarters) and Hinthada Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Sub-commissions.

In their resignation letter, they said the party has neglected the national reconsolidation and unity among political parties and has only demanded taking over of power. The party never participated in implementing the development tasks, and acts of the party do not serve interests of the State and the people, they said. Therefore, they quit the party to participate in development tasks of the government.
