A total of 50 members of Sagaing Township National League for Democracy of Sagaing Division including U Sein Tun and U Han Aye of Kyarmingyi Village, U Tin Maung of Hsintat Village, U Po Chan of Thazin Village, U Nyunt Hlaing of Nyaungbinzin Village, U Htay Chan, U Sein Win and U Maung Tin of Yinmakyin Village, U Maung Yi of Ywama Village, U Po Kan of Hsinmyay Village, U Thaung Hla of Taeinte Village and U Thaung Hla of Sagyin Village resigned from the party of their own accord on 6 September, sending letters of resignation to NLD Headquarters and local authorities concerned.

In their letters sent to Sagaing Division Multi-party Democracy General Election Subcommission, they said that the NLD (HQ) has no exact political programme. Leaders of the party are disunited, and the party does not participate in regional development task. Furthermore, the party leaders are sticking to the power with selfishness. It can be witnessed that the party leaders have less political experience, and that they are just political opportunists. That is why they resigned from the NLD of their own volition, they said.
