Ten members of the Wakema Township National League for Democracy of Ayeyawady Division including Ma Aye, Ma Su Su, Ma Khaing Lay, Ma Khin Nyo Than and Ma Khin Than Oo on 7 June, and 21 member of the Mawlamyinegyun Township NLD including U Ko Ko Gyi, U Hla Thein, U Phadi Tha, U Mya Soe and U Aung Thein Ngwe and Einme Township NLD member U Tun Aung Kyaw of Kyakhatkway Village on 8 June resigned from the party of their own volition, sending letters of resignation to the NLD Headquarters and local authorities concerned.

In their letters sent to Wakema and Mawlamyinegyun Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Subcommissions, they said that they resigned from the party of their own volition as the political stand of the NLD has deviated from its way of belief and there have been personal attacks, dissension and sectarianism among the NLD members.
