A total of 15 members including U Khin Maung Aye, U Myint Thaung, U Mya Win, U Maung Htwe, U Win Naing and U Lun resigned from Mawlamyinegyun Township National League for Democracy of Ayeyawady Division of their own accord on 10 August and they sent letters of resignations to the NLD (Headquarters) and local authorities.

In their letters sent to Ayeyawady Division Multi-party Democracy General Election Subcommission, they said that they no longer accepted acts of the NLD and wished to stand as members of the party. That is why they resigned from the party of their own volition, they said.
