A total of 12 members including U Kyaw Sein, U Than Win, Daw Htar Htar Aye, U Khin Maung Aye, U Than Naing Aye, U Kyaw Soe and U Tin Maung Oo of Meiktila Township National League for Democracy, Mandalay Division resigned from NLD of their own accord on 9 September.

They sent their resignation letters to National League for Democracy (Headquarters) and local authorities concerned. In their letters sent to Meiktila Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Sub-commission, they said NLD had not taken part in the nation building endeavours. They were no longer interested in and trusted the party. Therefore, they resigned from the party of their own volition.
