A total of 16 members of Mawlamyinegyun Township National League for Democracy of Ayeyawady Division including U Ohn Thein, U Khin Shwe of Katkho Village, U Thein Naing of Mithalingon Village, U Kyaw Moe Lwin of Mahmwaygyun Village, U Tin Nwe of Dalinhleseik Village on 24 August and 101 members of Labutta Township NLD including U Sein Tun of Aleyaygyaw Village-tract, Daw Nu Kyi of Labuttaloktaung Village-tract, U Hla Aye of Htinbonkwin Village, U Myint Swe of Boepyae Village, U Tun Yin of Myitpauk Village, U Thet Lwin of Kanyingon Village and Daw Kyi Win of Kyunchaung Village on 27 August sent letters of resignation to the NLD (Headquarters) and local authorities.

In the letters sent to Mawlamyinegyun and Labutta Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-commissions, they said they no longer wished to stand as members of the NLD and they resigned from the party of their own accord.
