Senior Adviser of FAO Dr Masao Sasaki and Director of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department Dr Ohn Kyaw on 1 December met with lab technicians of Yangon and Mandalay who jointly conducted disease diagnosis and monitoring together with staff of Kengtung District LBVD at Shan State LBVD Office and Laboratory in Kengtung.

At the meeting, Dr Masao Sasaki and Director Dr Ohn Kyaw made suggestions on control of avian influenza and disease diagnosis and monitoring. And they made a field trip to Naungngin Village, Kathtaik Village and Mongzin Village which were struck by an outbreak of bird flu and inspected the disease diagnostic and monitoring measures as well as breeding of chickens and ducks in villages out of disease control zones. They also looked into the systematic utilization of equipment provided under the bird flu control programme.

Furthermore, the two officials attended the talks on control bird flu organized by LBVD, Health Department and UNICEF at Kengtung City Hall on 2 December and workshop on providing information and training about bird flu held at New Kengtung Hotel from 3 to 5 December.
