The Bio-security Multiplier Course for Avian Influenza, jointly organized by Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department and FAO, was opened at the office of Taikkyi Township Peace and Development Council on 7th September.

Head of Yangon Division LBVD Dr Soe Win and FAO Resident Representative Dr Tang Zhengping delivered opening addresses. A total of 50 trainees from Taikkyi Township poultry farming entrepreneurs, Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association and Myanmar Red Cross Society are attending the course.

Also present on the occasion were Deputy Director-General Dr Than Tun of LBVD, responsible persons of WHO, UNICEF, AusAID, Japan Special Trust Fund, USAID and JICA. They visited the layer farm of Dr Thein Kyaw in Hmawby Township. Similar courses attended by 50 trainees each have been opened in 45 townships.
