President of OIE Regional Commission for Asia, the Far East and Oceania Dr Gardner Murray together with OIE RCU Regional Coordinator Dr Ronello Abila met Director-General U Maung Maung Nyunt of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department at his office this afternoon.

They discussed study on the spread of H5N1 virus, uplift of laboratory performances and preventive measures against foot-and-mouth disease free region in South-East Asian countries under the arrangements to provide assistance by OIE and AusAID for combating avian influenza.

Also present at the meeting were officials of the Australia Embassy and LBVD.
