Thirty-five members of National League for Democracy Party resigned from the party of their own accord and sent their letters of resignation to NLD (Headquarters) and authorities concerned on 16 July.

Twenty-two members including U Kyaw Tun, U Aung Hsan and U Thein Shwe of Magyisauk Village, Ayadaw Township, and 13 members including U Than Lwin, Daw San Aye and U Shwe Wai of Kai Village, Ayadaw Township, resigned from the party and sent their resignation letter to NLD (Headquarters) and Ayadaw Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Subcommission. In the letter, they said they no longer had faith and trust in the party and interest in activities of the party. That is the reason why they quit the party, they said.
