Avian Flu Monitoring and Testing Course opened

The Government has laid down plans and is placing emphasis on enhancement of the whole socio-economic life of the people including the health care services. These tasks will not stop in the future for serving the interest of the people.

The government is taking systematic steps to provide extensive health care services to the people. Nowadays, some major malignant diseases have been put under control, some eradicated and some were in no position of plaguing the people.

The Avian Flu Monitoring and Testing Course co-sponsored by the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries and FAO was opened at the LBVD in Insein on 12th November with opening addresses by deputy Director-General of LBVD Dr. Than Tun and Senior Adviser of Bird Flu Control Programmes of FAO Dr Masao Sasaki.

The opening ceremony was also attended by officials from LBVD, Myanmar Livestock Breeding Federation and FAO, and veterinarians from the state and division laboratories.

In the one-week course, subjects on monitoring and testing bird flu will be conducted at the Yangon Veterinary Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.
