Sixteen members including U Ohn Thein, U Khin Shwe, U Thein Naing, U Myint Aung and U Kyaw Moe Lwin of Mawlamyinegyun Township National League for Democracy in Ayeyawady Division, resigned from the party of their own accord by sending their letters of resignation to NLD Headquarters and authorities concerned on 24 August.

In the letters sent to Mawlamyinegyun Township Multiparty Democracy Election Subcommission, they said they quit the NLD of their own volition as they no longer had trust and confidence in the party’s political activities.
