Activities of certain foreign embassies to interfere in Myanmar’s internal affairs violate Vienna Convention and international laws

People who favour State stability desire the embassies stop such activities

Certain foreign powers, with the intention of interfering in the internal affairs of Myanmar, are now resorting to a variety of means, while aiding and abetting some local political parties to destabilize the country.

According to the information, some diplomats of certain foreign embassies in Yangon regularly visit NLD (HQ), hold talks and give directives to harm the interests of the nation and the people. And they visited the office 19 times in March 2008, and 277 times from March 2007 to March 2008.

It is learnt that National Interest Group was formed on 29 March in Bangladesh with the aim of dealing with anti-government movements launched by foreign diplomats in the nation; and that the chairman of the Bangladeshi non-governmental political, social and economic advisory board said at the press conference held on 29 March that the diplomats of some foreign powers were violating Article 41 on 1961 diplomatic relations of Vienna Convention and they should stop all those activities immediately. Article 41 of Vienna Convention says that foreign diplomats have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of the receiving State, and the premises of the mission must not be used in any manner incompatible with the functions of the mission as laid down in the present Convention.

It is learnt that in Myanmar, the people who favour stability of the State desire that the activities of certain foreign embassies to interfere in the internal affairs of the nation violate the Vienna Convention and international laws, so, the embassies should stop such activities.
