Prevention of human-to-human infection of bird flu virus

Health staff in Shan State (East) received skills for preventing human-to-human infection of bird flu virus in Kengtung on 11 January.

Altogether 50 health staff including heads of township, health department doctors, health assistants, nurses and midwives from township health departments in Shan State (East) attended the training course which was opened at the General Hospital in Kengtung on 11 January.

At the ceremony to open the course, Deputy Minister for Health Dr Mya Oo delivered an opening address and Head of Shan State (East) Health Department Dr Myint Aung briefed on bird flu outbreak in the state and preventive measures against the bird flu and h u m a n - t o - h u m a n infection.

The Director of the Health Department explained how to counter the human-to-human infection if it is happened. A doctor of Kengtung People’s Hospital demonstrated the use of protection equipment for bird flu virus. Afterwards, the trainees visited the infectious disease control unit at Kengtung People’s Hospital.
