1. As Nargis cyclone hit the- Union of Myanmar, local and international donations in cash & kind. The donations are accepted systematically and distributed promptly to the storm-hit areas by committees concerned. Arrangements have also been made to take deterrent action against those misappropriate relief fund and supplies. It was announced on 15^th May as follows;

1. Cyclone "Nargis" hit some parts of Myanmar and relief funds and supplies contributed by local and international donors are being received thankfully.

2. The relief funds and supplies for the storm victims donated by local & international donors are accepted systematically by Fund and Supplies Accepting and Supervision Body comprising departmental officials and personnel of NGOs. After that, the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Sub-Committee comprising departmental officials and personnel of NGOs promptly distribute them directly to the storm victims.

3. Local and international donors can donate humanitarian aids for the storm victims by contacting respective Myanmar embassies, military attaché offices, disaster preparedness committees at different levels at wards, townships, districts and states/divisions; and official organizations.

4. Measures have been taken to enable anyone to inform and complain if he witnesses or known that the cash assistance and relief supplies donated from abroad and at home to the storm victims are kept for self-interest, traded, used for particular persons and organizations or misappropriate for other purposes. Severe action will be taken against the guilty persons in accordance with law.

2. Hence, local and international donors can contribute relief fund and supplies for the victims enthusiastically and generously.

National Disaster Preparedness Central Committee
