18 Aug 2008 —Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General Mr Ibrahim Agboola Gambari and party arrived Yangon by air this morning.

Mr Gambari met with Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win at National Defence College at 1 pm, diplomats and officials of foreign missions in Yangon at Seinle Kantha State House at 2.15 pm, International Committee of the Red Cross at 3 pm and Tripartite Core Group at 3.55 pm separately. Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win hosted a dinner for Mr Gambari and party at Mya Yeik Nyo Royal Hotel.
