1. Cyclone Nargis started to enter the Union of Myanmar through Hainggyigyun at 9:00 am on 2 May, 2008, and left only at 12:30 pm on 4 May, 2008. 2. The Cyclone hit Ayeyawady, Yangon and Bago Divisions and Mon and Kayin States in the Union of Myanmar claiming many lives and causing enormous destruction to houses, schools, hospitals, religious buildings, watercraft, plantations and forests including food supplies. 3. It is hereby announced that the three days from 20 May 2008 to 22 May 2008 inclusive have been designated as the days of mourning for the loss of lives of the people and the flags shall be flown at half mast starting from 9 am on those days. |
