Swine influenza has broken out since 17 April. So far, the swine flu has killed 160 persons and the virus has spread to 16 countries including Mexico.

Swine influenza may be transformed into global human flu. Since 25 April, the Ministry of Health has been taking preventive measures against the swine flu transmitting to humans.

The Ministry of Health has carried out preventive measures against outbreak of Swine influenza A (H1N1) in Myanmar, made preparations for medical treatment, provided medicines and medical equipment and laboratory apparatuses to the hospitals and prepared the private wards at the hospitals.

With regard to situations of outbreak of Swine Influenza, the preventive measures and dissemination of health knowledge are being released to the people through TV, radio and dailies in time.

Since 29 April, the passengers have been under medical checks at airports, seaports and exits of borders.

Up to now, there has been no case of swine flu in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Health.
