1 May 2009—The meeting on preparedness against global human flu through traditional medicine was held at National Traditional Medicine Garden, here, yesterday.

Director-General of Traditional Medicine Department Dr Tin Nyunt made an opening speech on the occasion, saying that traditional medicine experts need to participate actively in the tasks for disease preparedness concerning the global human flu as the national concern. Extensive educative programs are to be launched. Directives released by the Ministry of Health are to be followed. Service personnel of Health Department are to take cooperative measures.

Next, Director of Traditional Medicine Department (Treatment) Dr Sein Win and Deputy Director U Paw Nyein made clarification on flu and traditional medicine, member of Traditional Medicine Council practitioner U Than Nyunt on treatment of flu through traditional medicine therapy and Director of Health Department (Infection) Professor Dr Soe Lwin Nyein on condition of outbreaks of global human flu.

Afterwards, traditional medicine practitioners gave suggestions and decisions were made to carry out health care services to the public extensively with the use of traditional medicines. Then the meeting ended with the concluding remarks made by the meeting chairman.
