People urged to cooperate with Ministry of Health

A 13 -year-old girl was found to be infected with New Influenza A (H1N1) on 27 June and she is being looked after at Yangon General Hospital and she is recovering from her illness. She will be discharged from the hospital after a certain period of surveillance.

Those who came into contact with her, those who were together with her in the same flight and those who carried out duties at Yangon International Airport on 26 June are being provided with medical care and all are in good health now.

The Ministry of Health is taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of New Influenza A (H1N1) and control the outbreak of disease starting from 28 April. Up to 30 June, A total of 71,313 people had been kept under surveillance at the airport, 5,745 at the international seaport and 1,594,237 at the borders totaling 1,671,295.

A total of 4,628 were kept under surveillance at hotels and their residences. Of them, 3,654 are free from the surveillance because the certain period of surveillance is up. A total of 974 people continue to be kept under surveilance.

Symptoms of fever and suspected flu are found among those who are being kept under surveillance. After 27 people had laboratory tests, only one was found to be infected with A (H1N1).

Seventeen people were found to have had seasonal influenza. Nine people were not found any influenza. Findings are being sent to the reference laboratory of WHO.

Regarding the New Influenza A (H1N1), the Ministry of Health has urged the people to cooperate with it by dialing (Tel-067 420437, 421205, 411388, 411389, 411156, 420268, 411002 and 411003) of the Ministry of Health (Nay Pyi Taw), (Tel-01 555734, 544279) of Yangon and (Tel-02 33173 and 65659) of Mandalay.
