Myanmar keeps on taking precautionary measures against New Influenza A (H1N1)

NAY PYI TAW, 7 July 2009Up to yesterday, New Influenza A (H1N1) had spread to 135 countries, having affected 94,512 people and killed 429 people. Myanmar is putting sustained efforts into control and preventive measures against the latest form of flu. So far, it has given medical check-ups to 1,791,882 people at airports, ports and border checkpoints and examined those suspicious with the deadly disease. According to the results of laboratory tests, of 36 people suspicious with New Influenza A (H1N1) in the nation, only one was found infected with the virus; 21, suffering seasonal flu only, and 14, in healthy conditions. The Ministry of Health today announced that the period of surveillance carried out on 203 persons who came into contact with the 13-year-old female victim has been over since yesterday; and that the virus has not spread to any other person and the case is now under control. |
