Swine flu A/H1N1 has broken out since 17 April. So far, 3440 people have been infected worldwide. A total of 48 people were killed. According to the news released today from World Health Organization, the disease has spread to 29 countries including Mexico.

The Ministry of Health has been taking preventive measures against the spread of the disease in Myanmar since 25 April as Swine flu A (H1N1) may be transformed into global human flu.

The Ministry of Health is undertaking preventive measures against the spread of the pandemic in Myanmar, monitoring the disease, making preparation for medical treatment, distributing medicines, medical and laboratory equipment to the hospitals and preparing quarantine patient wards.

With regard to the situations of outbreak of swine flu, the preventive measures and dissemination of health knowledge are being released to the people through TV, radio and dailies in time.

Passengers have been screened at airports, seaports and borders since 29 April.

Up to now, there has been no case of swine flu A /H1N1 in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Health.
