NLD members from states and divisions resign en masse

11 Sept Members of National League for Democracy from various states and divisions resigned from the party in large numbers. U Moe Kyaw (a) U Kyaw Yi, youth in charge of Yankin township NLD in Yangon Division resigned on 28 April; U Nyunt Maung, Vice- Chairman-2 of Salin Township NLD in Magway Division and members U Kyaw Htay, U Kyaw Aung, U Win Naing, U Sein Myint and U Naing Win on 18 May; U Ko Ko Maung, youth member of Htanaungtaw Village NLD in Saku Township on 5 June; U Htay, member of Nattalin Township NLD in Bago Division on 8 June; U Soe Hsan Oo, youth in charge of Shwebo Township NLD in Sagaing Division on 9 June; and 44 members of Kyonpyaw Township NLD in Ayeyawady Division U Win Tin, Ma Ni Ni Lwin, U Myint Oo, U Myint Wai, U Paw, U Zaw Min, U Tin Oo, U Win Maung, Ma Myo Thiri Tun, U Po Pu, U Thein Htaik, U Sein Myint, U Win Kyi, U Soe Naing, Ma Khin Toe, U Soe Htay Aung, U Tin Soe, Daw Khin Than Myint, Daw San San Win, U Khin Soe, U Myint Aung, U Kyi Soe, U San Myaing, U Khin Nyo, U Hla Tun, U Myint Kyi, U Kywat Ni, U Thein Aung, U Myint Ngwe, U Ko Ko Naing, U Myint Aung, U Sein Win, U Nyo Maung, U Tun Shein, U Wagyi, U Win Maung, U Saw Tun, U Zaw Tun, U Myo Min Tun, U Tun Shwe, U San Thein, Daw Kyi Than, Daw Aye Mar and U Po Htay; and U Tun Myaing, secretary of the organizing committee of Watlet Township NLD in Sagaing Division, on 11 June. Likewise, NLD members from other states and divisions quitted the party of their own volition. U Van Ton, information in charge of Matupi Township NLD in Chin State on 19 June; U Ko Win, member of Namhsan Township NLD in Shan State (South) on 20 June; U Win Min Than (a) Kadon (a) Zarni Min Min Than, youth member of South-West Township NLD of Mahaaungmyay Township in Mandalay Division on 25 June; U Tin Ohn, member of Singu Township NLD on 13 July; U Kan Tun from Chanayethazan Township, Secretary of Mandalay Division NLD on 19 August; and U Kyaw Kyaw Oo and U Zaw Zaw Aung, youth members of North-West Township NLD of Aungmyaythazan Township on 9 September. The above 62 NLD members sent their resignations to NLD headquarters and local authorities concerned. In their resignation letters they said they resigned from the party of their own accord as they no longer wanted to remain as NLD members because there were disunity, bullying and putting self-interest in the fore without helping each other among the party members although it seemed to be good in form and party members were putting their own interests in the fore. |
