The government is extending a warm welcome to the national race armed groups for the latter to return to the legal fold for national reconsolidation while providing necessary assistance to the national race organizations who have returned to the legal fold out of compassion and understanding. Realizing the goodwill of the government, altogether 159 members and their families led by Saw Nay Soe Mya of KNU bringing along with them small arms on 30 March 2009 joined Htot-kawkoe Village, where the KNU/KNLA Peace Council resides. Witnessing the taking care of the group of Saw Nay Soe Mya by the government, discord rife among the KNU’s remnant groups and realizing that the armed struggle line is of no use to the local people, a total of 14 members and 23 families of battalion-201 and battalion-16 numbering 37 led by Saw Sein Maung Htay with the rank of Captain from the KNU’s Central Special Battalion-201 bringing along with them ten assorted small arms and ammunition joined Htotkawkoe Village where Saw Htein Maung and Saw Nay Soe Mya reside on 13 May 2009. Officials concerned are making arrangements for providing Saw Sein Maung Htay and his group with necessary assistance. |
