Early Warning for a vian Diseases

Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries issued health warning relating the avian diseases due to different weather patterns. According to the data of 2007-2008, there are 118 million chickens and ducks and Myanmar is conducting conventional poultry farming 87% and commercial poultry farming 13%. Due to different weather patterns especially in cold seasons, there usually occurs avian diseases. It was found out the outbreak of bird diseases in some poultry farms in Nay Pyi Taw Pyinman in the second week of December 2008, in Pyi, Amarapura and Maha Aung Myay townships during January and February 2009 and in Dagon Myo Thit area of Yangon Division in February 2009.

It was due to the negligence of providing regular vaccination or skipping the last course of vaccination which infected avian diseases quickly to the poultry chickens before for sales. Systematic precaution measures were done like pest spraying, destruction of infected poultry chickens and prevention of infected birds for sales to the public. So far, there was no serious bird flu case and public health awareness and dissemination is being conducted. The Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department informs the public to build up better poultry farm instead of mixed-breeding of poultry chickens and other animals for animal health bio-security, to conduct spraying to the poultry farm equipments, transportation vehicles and packaging materials and avoid circulating the chicks boxes and feedstuff bags, to destroy and bury the dead poultry chickens and to urgently inform unusual death of poultry chickens to Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department or to the regional office of Myanmar Livestock Breeding Federation.
