Eight armed group members exchange arms for peace

NAY PYI TAW, 14 March 2011 The State Government upholding Our Three Main National Causes is striving for equitable development of all parts of the Union after effectively carrying out national reconsolidation. Realizing the correct acts and benevolent goodwill of the State, the armed groups exchange arms for peace for returning to the embraces of the State, the people and the Tatmadaw individuals and in groups after understanding their wrong doing acts. Zeyar Kyaw, Saw Kyaw Wi, Saw Tin and Zeyar of KNU (Saw La Bwe) insurgent group bringing along with two M-20 pistols, seven 9mm rounds of ammunition on 11 March, Aung Naing Oo and Ye Naing Oo with one M-16, one M-79 and 45 assorted rounds of ammunition on 13 March, Saw Win Aung with one .22 automatic rifle and eight rounds of ammunition on 1 January and Aung Soe with one 9mm pistol with eight rounds of ammunition on 25 January exchanged arms for peace in the area of South-East Command. Officials of respective military camps warmly welcomed eight persons who have exchanged arms for peace and provided them with necessary assistance. From December 2010 to date, a total of 51 persons from KNU (Saw La Bwe) have exchanged arms for peace, and there are more persons wishing to exchange arms for peace. |
