Health Ministry urges people to follow advice on A(H1N1)

19 Feb 2010 Myanmar dailies have carried new influenza A (H1N1) cases broke out in the country. A(H1N1) cases were reported in Tiddim Township, Chin State, in Kyaukme Township, Shan State and in the townships of Bahan, Tamway, Dagon Myothit (North), Dagon Myothit (East), Shwepyitha, Hlinethaya and Hmawby in Yangon Division. In 2009, there were 69 people infected with the virus and from January 2010 to date, there were 56 infected people. A total of 100 people with flu-like symptoms were hospitalized this year and among them, 24 were discharged. The remaining patients are on the mend and under surveillance as the treatment period has not yet been over. But there have been no death. Virus control and preventive measures are being taken with added momentum through the cooperation between the central and local authorities. People are to strictly follow the reminders and warnings of the Health Ministry and participate in the preventive measures in order to stop the spread of the disease. |
