Vice-Chairman of Taunggyi Township NLD U Khin Maung Than of MingalaU Ward of Taunggyi of Shan State (South) on 12 January 2010, U Thet Wai of Nyaungthabye Village of Mawlaik Township of Sagaing Division on 5 February, three NLD members including U San Tin of Hsemaing-Ywathit Village-tract of Mohnyin Township of Kachin State and U Hla Sein of Mudun Village of Chaungzon Township of Mon State on 9 February, Secretary of Kyunsu Township NLD U Khin Maung Win of Nyaungbee Village of Kyunsu Township of Taninthayi Division on 12 February, U Aye Tun of Nathmaw Village of Chaungzon Township of Mon

State on 13 February and U Sein Thaung of Thabyegon Village of Nay Pyi Taw Lewe Township on 16 February resigned from the party by sending letters of resignation of their own accord.

The resignation letters of 16 NLD members mentioned that the form of NLD seems well; and that actually, most of the party members put forward their self-interest while lacking unity; they are bullying one another without helping each other. That is why they resigned from the party because they accept the State’s seven-step Road Map with the concept that they would participate in the genuine national politics being realized by the State.
