Myanmar has freed herself from the colonial yoke since 64 years ago. The 4th January 1948 is the day when Myanmar people regained independence as a sovereign nation. On that day designated as the Independence Day, commemorative festivities have been celebrated yearly for 64 years so that all the people adore and value the independence of the nation. Independence was not regained by a stroke of fortune like winning a lottery. All national brethren residing in the territory of Myanmar sacrificed lives, blood and sweat in independence struggles. They all together secured the Independence by fighting against the colonialists in many battles with a same vow that the entire Myanmar people must be free from enslavement. To safeguard the Independence is the duty of all national people living in the nation. Thus, all national people are to uphold Our Three Main National Causes: Non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity and perpetuation of sovereignty for perpetuity of Independence of Myanmar. Today is the first day to enter the New Year of 2012 after the old year was over. Hailing the New Year, development momentum must be gathered for serving the interests of the State and the entire people as part of efforts to safeguard the Independence of the nation. At present, internal armed groups have made peace talks one after another thanks to remarkable reforms of the new government. In consequence, the whole nation will enjoy the peace and prosperity with full essence of Independence. In the near future, it is certain that the whole country will achieve greater progress as the people can emphasize their businesses enjoying fruits of Independence. |
