An armament ceremony of people’s militia in Tarlawgyi Village, Hsinbo Subtownship, Kachin State, was held at Maha Wizaya Ordination Hall of Dekkhina Rama Monastery yesterday morning. Deputy Commander of Northern Command Brig-Gen Aung Myat Oo addressed the ceremony and armed the people’s militia with weapons and ammunitions and provided cash assistance.

Present on the occasion were officials from local battalions, commissioners and administrators, 200 troops of people’s militia, 50 members of KIA (Kachin) armed group which has exchanged arms for peace, and l500 local people.

At the request of 50 troops led by U Kyaw Hsan with the rank of corporal from Tarlawgyi Village, Hsinbo Sub-township, Kachin State, who are intolerant of the KIA (Kachin) armed group sticking to destructive acts and killing innocent service personnel and local people, ignoring the goodwill of the government and peace aspired by local national people and of the village people who are strongly opposed to the KIA (Kachin) armed group, Directorate of People’s Militia and Frontier Forces in coordination with the Kachin State government, the armament ceremony was organized.
