A prelude to spectacular scenic views of northern Myanmar unfolds as the plane glides above the clouds awashed golden in the sunrays at 12,000 ft above sea level.
The terrain below also looks awesome. The majestic Ayeyawady River meanders south with a lot of turns and curves, dotted with sand banks here and there.
Among the many spectacular scenic spots include the confluence of Maykha and Malikha whence the Ayeyawady begins.Myanmar is endowed with rich natural beauties: forests, mountains, beautiful landscapes and the sea. Northern Myanmar in particular has more peculiar landscapes.
Northern Myanmar is the only place in Southeast Asia where one may observe snow-capped mountains, the eastern nexus of the Himalayas.
If one is keen to brace the challenges of nature and trck in northern Myanmar, PutaO is the point of entry being the northern most airfield of the country.

Our MRTV-3 crew visited PutaO to document interesting local peculiarities and traditional cultural activities. By chance, some foreigners were our fellow travelers. They came to raft along the rapid Maykha River.
They were coming here for the second time. In their first visit, the got extraordinary experiences. They succeeded in the trying and grueling rafting along the Maykha River. They felt satisfaction at their success.
The natives cordiality, frankness and cooperation was one thing for the visitors to come back another time. It was also because of their success against the odds in ratting down the Maykha, which the natives themselves acknowledged as really rapid river.
