The Art of Silk-Scereen Painting
The art of painting is one of the ten Myanmar traditional arts and crafts. The art of painting can be created in many ways according to your imagination and thinking.

Today, we will be presenting to you an art, which is based on the art of painting, but, instead of using paint and brushes, silk thread is used to create these incredible and artistic paintings. To create a silk-screen painting, the first thing you will have to do is to draw the design you want to paint, on a piece of paper. You will have to draw many pieces of separate drawings according to the different colours you are going to use in your painting. Then, you are ready to weave the silk-screen on a wooden frame. The silk threads are woven closely and evenly so that the painting could be come out evenly. You then have to paint enamel-paint on the silk-screen frames so that the colour of the painting can be seeped into the frames thoroughly.

Then, you must press the particular colour patterns of the painting on the silk-screen frame for 15 minutes, in order to let the paint seep-through.

As the paint is dried, the frame of the silk-screen is cleaned with water and then the painting is being marked on the silk-screen. Silk-screen frames are made according to parts for colouring in the painting.

Now, we will be showing you the step, where the actual design of the silk-screen painting will be painted on the black velvet cloth, which is used for the background of the painting. First of all, the whole outline design of the painting is silk-screened onto the black velvet, using white enamel paint. Let the white paint dry. Later on, you have to silk-screen all the colours you want on a painting one after another, until all the colours of the painting are coloured onto black velvet cloth. But you have to make sure that the colour you have silk-screened need to dry, before carrying out the same procedure with the next colour. And finally, you will get a complete colourful silk-screen painting.

But, there still work to be done. You have to add dazzling bright sequence and paint with a paintbrush to the outline of the painting in order to make it more attractive. Then, let the paint dry, and cut the corner of the cloth. And later on, a gold colour or plain rod is attached to both ends of the cloth so that it can be roll like a scroll. All kinds of drawings, such as religious, traditional and Myanma arts and crafts including other created drawings are drawn on these silk-screen paintings. The paintings of newly built bridges can be drawn on these silk-screen paintings as a memento.

These silk-screen paintings are pretty to behold and easy to carry about thus they have become popular souvenirs for your family, relatives and friends. We hope that you have enjoyed our programme. Thanks for watching and till next time. Keep tune to MRTV-3.
